A straightforward visual breakdown of US real wage growth. There are a series of interesting graphs such as the one below.
Interesting. In all, the data indicate that things are getting better for Americans as a whole, even though not at the same rate. This seems contrary to what I see going on around me. I suspect, although I can’t prove, that adjustments in the Consumer Price Index make real wages seem higher than they otherwise would. Also, these figures are averages and don’t reflect disparities within the various groups. Still, I could be wrong. Maybe things are better than they seem to me.
